Dave Roy Discusses the 2016 AOPA Fly-In - How To Become a Fly-In Volunteer

Board member Dave Roy expanded a little on the AOPA Regional Fly-In. Originally we were going to form a group of volunteers from the PAUA membership and serve as a group. Some other Airport groups were thinking about doing the same. Officials from AOPA felt that this might not be the most effective way to place people where they would like to serve. After discussion on the matter nearly all involved agreed. Anyone who wishes to volunteer should log on to the PAUA Web site (membership not required). You will find a link for AOPA volunteers and a list of options available.

Airport Manager's Update - John Cox

Airport Manager John Cox updated us on the status of our new $400,000 ARFF Fire Truck. Looks like it should arrive in late April or May.

Most of you are aware that the North Airport Perimeter gate was destroyed by a large truck. While trying to turn around they also damaged one of the bottleneck gates. The damage was covered by insurance to the tune of $20,000. The airport will use that money to do a complete Airport Security study aimed at making all gates secure and reliable. With a solid plan in place they will be in a position to apply for a grant to modernize all of the airport security.

B29 FIFI At Prescott Airport October 3, 2016

More good news, that beautiful old B29 Fifi will be returning to Prescott on October 3rd through the 6th. Look for more on this, I doubt she will be alone.

KPRC Tower Update

Geoff Kusel of Prescott Tower gave us an update on Tower staffing. A new controller just came on board with lots of previous Towers experience including at Deer Valley, Falcon Field and others out of the state. He should move through the certification process quickly making him a welcome addition. Jeff says we also have a new Supervisor, with no Tower experience but with lots of TRACON experience and a wealth of knowledge.

New PAUA Business

Under new business Board Member Dave Roy inquired if anyone was aware of the Status of PAUA Vice President Jeremy Davalos. He has not attended the last several meetings and no one on the Board had any information. Ted Wickstrom said he would contact him and find out what his intentions were.

PAUA Looks Into Opening Commercial Advertisers to NEW Website
