The meeting was called to order at 7:05 PM on May 17, 2016 by PAUA President Ted Wickstrom. After the minutes from the previous meeting were approved as they appear on the PAUA website.

Website Updates and New Sponsors
The PAUA Website activity was not available as Webmaster Guy Roginson was not available for this meeting. Guy has accepted FooteWork.com as PAUA Corporate Sponsor. Our other sponsors have in the past provided a service or discount to members. In this case it was a $250 donation to the organization. Guy Roginson continues to expand the content and features of our website.
ERAU Report - Brian Roggow - ERAU Flight Team Comes in at #1 - AGAIN!
Brian Roggow provided the ERAU report. It looks like fall enrollment at ERAU will be up 10 to 15% across the board. ERAU also continues to expand its curriculum. This semester ERAU will graduate their first 4 Cyber Intelligence Specialists.
In the recent National Aeronautical competition under NIFA, ERAU Prescott came in number one. This is the 10th time they have come in number one in the Nation. Our congratulations go to the ERAU Flight Team.
KPRC Airport Updates - John Cox, KPRC Manager
Next was our Airport Manager, John Cox’s report. First he wanted to recognize one of his staffers Jamie Baker who was present. Jamie was stepping up to take over several of John’s daily activities, freeing up John to work closer with the city and to focus on the big picture. When you have business with the airport you will likely find yourself dealing with Jamie. Speaking for the Board, we think you will find that a pleasant experience.
Transcontinental Air Race Classic
John next introduced Michelle Day of ERAU. Michelle is the Primary Organizer for the upcoming Transcontinental Air Race Classic. It will be originating in Prescott on June 21st and ends 2,500 miles away on 24th in Daytona Beach Florida. It will involve 128 aircraft from all over the country. In all, staff, crews and support will bring over 300 folks to town. The 128 aircraft will be staged on the North Ramp, grouped toward the east end just off of Taxiway Bravo. Aircraft and crews will start arriving in Prescott on June 18th. All Prescott Airport tenants will have access to their Hangars and tie-downs throughout the event. More details at http://www.airraceclassic.org/ .
John Cox next covered the $8,000,000 of projects and improvements accomplished at Prescott Airport during 2015/16 budget year. Between the FAA, ADOT and the USFS the city acquired those improvements at a cost of one and a half cents per dollar. That implies some very fancy footwork by our trusty airport staff.
Looking Ahead - New Equipment - Grants - Great Work by Airport Management
Next was looking ahead to FY 2016/17. First, coming very soon will be our new high-tech $400,000 ARFF Fire truck. Not far behind that should be $150,000 of snow and FOD removal equipment. A $25,000 airport Security study and design project leading to a state of the art complete airport security system running about $2,500,000. Another $180,000 will go to the design of new LED runway lighting. That system will likely have a price tag of $3,000,000. To acquire support for these improvements we must have an updated master plan which will run nearly $1,000,000.
The good news is the FAA and ADOT have the dollars to help us with all of that. Even better news is we have an airport manager and staff who know how to make that happen. Making sure that the city understands the value of pennies for dollars is a concern for PAUA.
On May 26th, John Cox will be covering these figures and a lot more with the city Council. This is a Budget session open to the public. It will be at the Prescott Public Library. The session will start at 9:00 AM and John is scheduled to present the airport budget proposal at 10 AM. While no public comments will be accepted at this meeting, a strong show of airport support could be helpful. It will also make you aware of who supports the airport and who does not.
New Business - New Webmaster - Corporate Sponsorships
Guy Roginson was selected as our newest PAUA Board member to replace the vacancy created by the departure of our former Vice President Jeremy Davalos. Guy has agreed to be our PAUA Webmaster. Also under old business was a discussion on whether we should, or should not accept corporate sponsorship on the PAUA website. The Board agreed to do it, and we voted to create a 3 person committee to work out the details, with Guy Roginson as Chair.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:00 PM.
