PAUA Board Meeting Minutes November 20, 2018

PAUA Board Meeting Minutes

November 20, 2018

The meeting was called to order at 4:00 PM by PAUA President Ted Wickstrom. Board Members present were Ted Wickstrom, Daryl Austmiller, Brian Roggow, Currie Lee, Mike Liversidge, and Bill DeRouchey.

Daryl reported our bank balance is $4075 and $80 petty cash.

Minutes from October were approved.

Currie: Web site visitors up 58% and unique visitors up 200%

ERAU: Brian – Regional Competition was held earlier this month. This is a very structured competition that includes: aircraft general knowledge, creative pre-flight “find the bug” inspection, aircraft identification given a snippet, and precision landing/takeoff flying skills. ERAU won!

Students will be occupied from December 8 with finals, commencement, and break until January 9. This means less traffic in the pattern.

TOWER: Jeff – The airport arrival halves: roughly East and West normal to the 21L-03R runway is now official. There will be one controller on duty for each “half”. The East side will use 125.3 and the West 128.75. Straight in to 21L will use 125.3.

LEGEND: Tom – introduced David as the new avionics manager. This will reduce some of Mitch’s heavy workload.

KPRC: Robin- Provided an overview of goals and strategy for the near future of our airport. Major goals are:

  1. Long term tenancy of US Forest Service

  2. Replace existing terminal

  3. Lengthen runway 21L and realign Taxiway C. (this is becoming a high priority)

Enplanements for calendar 2018 are so, so, so close to the magic 10,000. If we surpass this number by one person then our airport general funding goes from $10,000 to $1,000,000 per year. And potential funds available for terminal building construction go from $200,000 to $20,000,000. So, urge everyone you know to take a scenic round trip to the Pacific Ocean or Rocky Mountains before New Years Eve!

A question was asked about hanger contents policy as required by FAA. The answer was: the hanger is primarily for aircraft. And the aircraft can move in and out freely. Only recent noise complaints were light airplanes circling the Dells.

Commercial usage by the residents of our area will increase public support and help support the airport in major issues. And building houses close to our airport is a major issue that will affect all PAUA pilots.

There are no plans for a restaurant in the new terminal building. Hopefully, we will have a good restaurant in the existing terminal building.

Ted: led the membership in the nomination and election of officers for next year. The names and final assignments are as follows:

Daryl Austermiller – President and Treasurer

Bill DeRouchey – Vice President

Terry Marshall – Secretary

Brian Roggow – ERAU representative

Dave Roy – AOPA representative

Ted Wickstrom – At Large

Currie Lee – At Large

Mike Liversidge – At Large

Greg Schindel – At Large

Meeting adjourned at 5:40PM.
